For Freedoms is an artist-run platform dedicated to civic engagement, public discourse, and collective action through creative practice. As part of the Another Justice campaign — a national initiative inviting audiences to reconsider inherited definitions of justice — the organization commissioned a series of visual responses pairing personal narratives with photographic portraiture. The campaign unfolded across multiple public-facing formats, including large-scale billboard installations.
I was invited to develop a campaign execution featuring musician and songwriter Bobby Gonz. Working within an accelerated timeline, I created a typographic concept that responded directly to Gonz’s reflections on reconnecting with one’s inner child and embracing vulnerability as a catalyst for growth.
Drawing from personal memories of learning to illustrate alongside family members, I explored hand-driven letterforms that embraced imperfection, spontaneity, and emotional immediacy. This approach informed a visual language that balanced raw expression with structural clarity, allowing typography to function both as narrative content and as a compositional framework.
The final artwork was designed for large-format public display as part of the campaign rollout. I developed the layout system and prepared production-ready billboard artwork, ensuring that the typographic gesture maintained emotional resonance while achieving legibility and impact at urban scale. The piece contributed to a broader visual dialogue around identity, healing, and the imaginative reconstruction of justice.
